COMING OFF THE PILL OR OTHER HORMONES

I have received some mails, voice calls and sms relating to side effect of  contraceptive use.

I understand that women are literally worried about this and fear continues to rise as rumors are spread from person to person.

''Is there hope for my menstrual cycle to be corrected and chances for me returning to fertility''

Women shaaaa...I have heard that period washes away pimples, malaria, typhoid all bacteria existing and co- existing...lol, so as a woman I must see my period if not I wont look pretty!

True talk. Period has a way of making a woman glow just towards the end of the menstrual phase but its a false talk when you tell me that it will cure your diseases...I have never known menstrual Period to be a miracle worker.

Your menstrual cycle is part of a phase and it happens when the tissue in the endometrial (The surrounding layer of the uterus also known as the womb) wall is sheded off and like a wound it will bleed which is what we see as menses.

So when you are on hormones, like the injectables your body simply assumes pregnancy and does not initiate bleeding or maybe a little spotting until you get used to it or you stop using the hormones.

The topic today is: " What happens when I come off the pill or any other hormones"
Women who discontinue hormones are usually surprised that their cycles don't resume in the same clockwork manner that they had become used to while taking hormones.

Women need to remember that cycles on hormones are artifically induced to be perfect.

Ovulation might not start up immediately because of the over-suppression of the feedback gotten from part of the brain - hypothalamus and pituitary gland that controls ovulation.

When a woman comes off the hormones, her cycles will eventually revert back to the way they were before, however, the length of time it takes varies with women.

For some it is almost instantly while for most women there is at least a very short delay. For the thin or younger people it takes a little bit of a longer time to get the drug cleared from the system. Those who had irregular period before the use of the hormone will most likely return to their irregular state after period.

Once hormones are discontinued, cycles start to gradually show fertile quality cervical fluid which could be sticky and wet. Women who do not want to get pregnant yet should  not rely on this as this is imperative.

Once again my beautiful ladies, not seeing your menses while on hormones will not cause anyone to be sick and being sick also does not affect your cycle.
