Pregnancy After 35...Did you say I was too old???

No doubt, Age is just a number and you shouldn't let your age come in between your fun filled life and dreams to start or continue a family.

Young charming guy, coming around to propose for marriage??? but you are worried that you might not be able to give him a child...or you are just thirty and getting worried about getting pregnant after achieving success in other fields of life with or without marriage.

Perhaps you are already a mummy and you just want another baby after years of contraceptive use, especially because you have them all boys....hmmm.

We agree that when it comes to becoming a mom age plays a crucial role, you can have safe pregnancy and a healthy baby but you should be adequately informed of the risk involved...yes you should.

Pregnancy at 35 may not be as easy as one at 27 but that doesn't mean you cannot be a mother. Many women have gone on to have healthy pregnancies after 35, so why shouldn't you.

Risks can be averted with your support and your health professionals.

You might want to know what the risks are?

Reduced fertility: The older we get, the quality and quantity of eggs produced by the female is reduced. same also for the male sperm cells.

Elevated Blood pressure: Most common complication in older women, which results in a higher incidence of pre-eclampsia. (a condition in pregnancy associated with high blood pressure, fluid retention and protein in the urine)  Regular check on this will help you manage your pregnancy.

Genetic Abnormalities:  Including down syndrome, At 35 it is 1 in 365 births, although many of these pregnancies end in miscarriage or stillbirth.

Twin or Multiple Pregnancies : Good news or a bad one? Women older than 35 have higher chances of multiple pregnancies.

Gestational Diabetes : This type of diabetes develops only when a woman is pregnant.its been proved that older women are more prone to gestational diabetes than younger ones. Great news is that you can prevent this by controlling your diet and staying physically active all through your 9 months. if your diabetes is not treated, your baby may grow too big.

More Chances of C- Section: Placenta Previa is one problem that can occur in older maternal pregnancies, this resulting to you going under a knife.

Do you think if I get to 35 years I shouldn't try having babies again, because of fear of complications with pregnancies??? What if i put a check on all these before I try to get pregnant, and also eat well? Is that enough to make me have a healthy baby after 35....

Pleaseee I need to know fast, my biological clock is ticking...Tick-Tock
