INCREASED POPULATION, POVERTY AND MEASLES.

There has been a current outbreak of a highly infectious disease which has claim the lives of 25 children in a community in Eti-Osa LGA. This deadly disease was initially described as a "Febrile rash" of an unknown cause.

Subsequently, blood samples and swabs were taken for histology and it was discovered that the currently killing disease is the same old Measles...oh yea, Measles.

House to home vaccination occurred about 2- 3 weeks back, immunizing infants from 9 months but this didnt stop the recent outbreak.

The nation has been swindled into hardship and more hardship when diseases like this claims the lives of children who are supposed to be our leaders of tomorrow.

The over populated state of the nation will not only cause high level of poverty but will cause endemic disease such as Measles."Febrile Rash"

Over population and poverty comes to play when people live in slums, and only wait at night to lay in a room with 11 persons, breathing from mouth to mouth.

Living in close proximity to one another spreads measles or any other infectious diseases  faster and quickly.

Over populated building, school children in a populated unhygienic environment, Churches, Mosques, increases the chances of finding a host who distributes the pathogens. Reduction in the host of this infection reduces host susceptibility and infection will die out.

Measles is a highly infectious disease and can continue in circulation in a community depending on the  generation of host susceptible to it.

Symptoms include: Cough, runny nose, sneezing, child's irritability as shown by persistent crying and a rash.

Measles is gotten in the air when an infected person sneezes or coughs.
Among other factors that can contribute to the outbreak of this disease, is poor hygiene.

Environmental sanitation,as much as it is a must in every community can adversely fail due to an avalanche of human habitat of such environment and thus diseases cannot be controlled.

Unavailability of birth control devices, Poor infant nutrition and lack of vaccination can bring about this illness. Resources are still getting limited as population increases and as such vaccines can not be readily availble.

Low level of maternal education leading to unwanted pregnancies increases outbreak of infection.

Total elimination of measles is the only way to control such outbreaks.
Increase in population density and unhealthy living condition will assist in the transmission of diseases.

Reduction of this so called over-populated nation by empowering women and making accessibility to family planning reduces the rate of demographic trends...This is the way forward!
